Lifestyle Disorders

In classical Ayurvedic texts, acute food poisoning is clinically correlated with Visuchika (a type of acute gastroenteritis). It occurs when vitiated Agni (digestive fire) allows Ama (undigested toxins) to quickly expel through both upper and lower digestive tracts. Common clinical presentations parallel modern foodborne illnesses, including Chhardi (vomiting), Atisara (diarrhea), Shoola (abdominal pain), nausea, giddiness, and fever.
